Big Thicket National Preserve is pleased to announce the 2nd annual BioBlitz taking place June 9-14, 2008. Researchers will be in the field collecting data throughout the week, and on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14th those scientists will showcase their data. Seminars on Friday will be held at the Field Research Station in Saratoga; the events on Saturday will be held at the Preserve’s Visitor Center located on US 69 north of Kountze, TX.

This is an opportunity for the general public to be a part of real science. They may meet scientists, or join them in collecting species for identification. The Saturday event is fun for the whole family with booths, hands on activities, and free food.

Boating is permitted from April through October. Read more>
